Reflecting on 2 Years with Fighting Pretty
Reflecting on 2 Years with Fighting Pretty
with Brand Ambassador, Miranda Edwards
Today is my 2 year Fighting Pretty package anniversary, and it fell on a Friday - #FightingPrettyFriday. So, I figured I would share my thoughts today, and call it #StrengthSaturday!
Let me tell you a quick back story: I was searching Instagram for key words like “cancer fabulous” and “chronic illness chic”.
I wanted to find a community or people that could relate to my way of seeing the world while navigating life with incurable cancer.
I wanted to find other thrivers and survivors who would just get me and my love of being fabulous!
Enter in: Fighting Pretty.
I reached out to them via email asking if they’d ever be interested in teaming up together since our messages were so similar!
I didn’t know much about them, but I was greeted with so much love. They sent me my very own pretty package to show me what they’re about.
I received a pink box as I was waiting for a call with my oncologist during an uncertain time; how perfect, right? I opened my box, revealing these sparkly pink mini boxing gloves.
That was the first time they reminded me of my strength and beauty - but it wouldn’t be the last.
As someone’s who’s young and living with this super rare cancer, it’s hard to find a place to land. It’s difficult to find your people, to feel heard.
What was once viewed as a breast cancer community because of all the pink, I just saw as fabulous. Fighting Pretty accepted me with open arms.
We became a small but mighty girl gang to share that message far and wide. Myself, Renee, and Pamela were the first Brand Ambassadors.
Now, 2 years later, there’s an actual zebra print glove to represent rare diseases like mine!
Fighting Pretty is a community that exists to remind you of your strength, your beauty, and that you are so much more than a diagnosis.
No one wants to be part of this club, but if you have to be - why not do it in glitter or rocking a fierce lipstick?
Cheers to each and every one of you just trying to make sense of scans, needles, endless doctors, treatments, scanxiety, self advocacy, surgeries, survivorship… you are freakin amazing!
YOU ARE FIGHTING PRETTY! Through the good, the bad, and the fab.
Love,
