Mother's Day can be hard. Mother's Day can be joyful. For everyone at Fighting Pretty, we wish you a Happy Mother's Day whether that is honoring and celebrating with your mom, or missing her and reflecting on your time with her.
This year, we want to take a moment to highlight some amazing mama's who are Fighting Pretty through cancer!
Na'Diah Smith
Na'Diah is a brand new Mommy to Grayson who was just born in February of this year! Na'Diah is a breast cancer thriver, advocate and Brand Ambassador for Fighting Pretty in addition to a "Baddie Ambassador" for For The Breast of Us and ANGEL Advocate and Trainer for Tigerlily Advocate.
When asked what her favorite Fighting Pretty item is, Na'Diah says, "Right now, my favorite item is teal logo tee. It's so comfortable and quick and easy to put on for a walk with Grayson. Plus, it's so vibrant and definitley a conversation starter!"
Renée Firato
Renée is also a Fighting Pretty Brand Ambassador and Mama to Ava, her little mini me! Renée was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (a bone marrow and blood cancer) at 18 years old. At that time, she was told her treatments would deem her infertile and there was no time to harvest her eggs. After chemo, radiation and a bone marrow transplant she was finally in remission. For eleven years, Renée was told every hormone function test was negative and there was no chance I could ever get pregnant. Then, she miraculously conceived her beautiful baby girl Ava!
In 2019, Renée was then diagnosed with Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage 2.5 and has been undergoing treatment since. Both Renée and Ava love to do activities together (they have done a 5k 19 obstacle MudGirl run, a 5k Foam Glow run together and 10U Softball!) and love the Fighting Pretty hats.
Their personal favorite is the fancy script hat. Renée says: "it's comfortable and makes me feel strong and beautiful!"
Tammy Cimmery
Donni Cimmery, our Fighting Pretty Brand Ambassador, reached out a few months ago with the unfortunate news that her mom was joining the Fighting Pretty community. We love both Donni and her mom Tammy, so read on for her inspirational story!
When my daughter, Donni, was going through her treatments, surgeries, and more for stage 3 colorectal cancer, I saw how badass she was while she fought through it all. Even though it was such a challenge for me to be strong for her, I knew I had to. I knew I had to not let her see me terrified or angry. Donni is my baby, so of course I was! Months after Donni had become cancer free. I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I went from being a supportive mother of someone who was Fighting Pretty, to Fighting Pretty myself. Both of our experiences could have easily broken us. But instead we leaned on each other and decided to "Fight Pretty", and we are so glad we did because having a positive, badass mindset brought us closer and made a huge impact on the outcome of both of our journeys. We are both so thankful to be a part of Fighting Pretty!
My favorite items from Fighting Pretty are my gloves (of course), but also the new, fun, vibrant Support the Girls tote bag! I supported my girl, Donni and she supported me right back! I bring it everywhere.
